Executive to push for lower blood alcohol limits – 31 October 2013

Stormont ministers are to consider a package of measures designed to reverse a rise in the number of road deaths after years of significant declines.

Environment minister Mark H Durkan is pushing Executive colleagues to approve lower drink-drive limits, a new penalty regime and new provisions to better train, test and protect new drivers.

The Road Traffic Amendment Bill is aimed at maintaining record lows in terms of annual road fatality totals reached last year.
