Perceptions of Crime survey results released today – 27 February 2014

The Perceptions of Crime survey, which is a National Statistics publication, was released today.

Drugs, alcohol and a lack of discipline from parents were the top three factors which survey respondents felt were the main causes of crime. When asked which of these was the main cause, lack of discipline was the most common answer.

Three fifths of participants felt that crime had increased in the previous 2 years despite, even though crime recorded has remained the same for the past two years.
