Reminder for landlords to register – 4 September 2014
Social Development Minister Nelson McCausland has reminded landlords that they should be registered on the Landlord Registration Scheme.
The Scheme, which was launched in February 2014, requires all existing and new landlords to register and provide accurate and up to date information on themselves and their properties.
Once registered, landlords are provided with up-to-date information and support in relation to their duties and responsibilities. The Scheme will enable Councils to ensure private landlords adhere to the law already in place for the private rented sector.
Minister McCausland said, “Earlier this year I launched the Landlord Registration Scheme, which will for the first time provide a centrally held register of all landlords in Northern Ireland. This is good news for both landlords and tenants.
“So far over 7,000 landlords and 17,000 properties are registered. I would encourage all those who have not yet registered to do so as soon as possible.”
